RECIPE FOR A BROKEN HEART

Lyrics by Stan C. Countz, music by Bruce Guynn

VERSE 1
He pulled out her letter and read it over again
The one she wrote the night she up and left him (It was…)
One part never there, two parts unprepared
A dash of despair and there you have it…
The recipe for a broken heart

CHORUS
Could’ve fanned the flame, it’s a cryin’ shame
He’s comin’ apart; gotta broken heart
Now he cannot stop, he takes another shot
Thinkin’ ‘bout those birthdays he forgot
Gotta broken heart

PRE-CHORUS
As he takes some time to think, he pours another drink
Of the recipe for a broken heart

HALF CHORUS
Could’ve fanned the flame, it’s a cryin’ shame
He’s comin’ apart; gotta broken heart

(INSTRUMENTAL)

OPTIONAL BACKGROUND VOCAL
ONE PART NEVER THERE/TWO PARTS UNPREPARED
ADD A DASH OF DESPAIR AND THERE YOU HAVE IT

BRIDGE
He knew the task was risky, now he’s plumb out of luck
Got a flask of Jack whisky ___ in the cab of his ol’ truck___
Comin’ apart at the seams; his heart is sad and broken
Lost his hopes and dreams so tonight he’s gonna crack it open

FULL CHORUS
Now he cannot stop, he takes another shot
Thinkin’ ‘bout those birthdays he forgot
Gotta broken heart
Could’ve fanned the flame, it’s a cryin’ shame
He’s comin’ apart; gotta broken heart

TAG TO END
With each shot he takes, he remembers his mistakes
And the recipe for a broken heart

Good lyric and tune but I'd like to hear the bridge developed. The song is short enough. You could add the bridge and still be under 4 minutes...
